Hanna's Youth Services

Focus:

To develop the youth of the Hanna Community through the maturation of their intellectual progression, physical cognition, and social awareness. Focusing our services on these aspects, we seek to enhance the youth’s ability to succeed at home, in school and society.

Purpose:

The youth program provides opportunities for children in the Hanna Community to dwell in an environment that furnishes a positive atmosphere where they can grow, learn, and be loved.

After-School Program

The Hanna Community Council’s After-School Program is an education-based program for students in grades K-6. While enrolled in the program students will focus on the core values of the Hanna Youth Program. The duration of the program is for the academic school year*. Each student will receive transportation from school, assistance with homework, information on healthy lifestyles, and a nutritious snack on a daily basis. Ivy Tech and Purdue University students/student organizations are valuable resources that are used for tutoring and mentoring. The benefits of the program are for both the students and the parents/guardians. The students receive extra attention on education, while parents can have peace of mind knowing that their child is cared for and is developing needed skills at an affordable price.

Hanna Summer Camp

The Hanna Community Council’s Summer Camp is a recreation-based program that focuses on education, culture, socialization, and community service. While enrolled in summer camp campers will have exposure to the core values of the Hanna Youth Program. The duration of the program is for the summer months of June, July, and August. Each student will participate in educational activities, healthy lifestyles presentations, field trips, and receive a nutritious lunch and snack on a daily basis. All summer staff is CPR and First Aid certified. The goal of summer camp is to provide campers with a great experience that will last a lifetime – childhood memories at an affordable price.

Weed and Seed

Hanna Community Center is the Weed and Seed location for the North End and Downtown areas of Lafayette. The purpose of Weed and Seed is to provide neighborhood youth with a safe environment to participate in educational, recreational, and cultural activities. Through Weed and Seed we offer tutoring daily for students in grades K-8, by appointment only, as well as special events such as holiday parties, dinners, and field trips.
